Essential skin treatment is as important for men as it is for women. In fact it becomes more important for men to take care of their skin as they spend more time outdoors and are exposed to air pollution, sun shine and adverse weather conditions.
As compared to women men have a thicker skin with bigger pores and most of them have an oily skin. Due to regular shaving men’s skin tends to go rough and injuries while shaving can add to their skin problems.
Tips for Skin Treatment for Men
Daily cleansing is very important to remove dust particles and deep rooted grime from the skin pores. You should cleanse your skin two times a day i.e. in morning before shaving and at night to keep it squeaky clean. Avoid using soap on your face.
Apply a gentle cleanser which contains natural ingredients like fruit pulp, honey, milk or herbs. Apply the cleanser all over your face with your finger tips and gently massage for 2 minutes to let it go deep in the pores. Afterwards wash it off with normal water.
Toning is necessary as it helps to close the open pores and locks the moisture inside the skin. Some people skip this step, but it is important to maintain skin elasticity and to nourish the skin. Apply an alcohol free toner; rose water and mint juice are excellent skin toners as they help to cure acne and pigmentation.
People with oily skin can use an astringent as it removes excessive oil from the skin. Apply the toner with the help of a cotton ball and do not rub it into the skin. Just dab the toner on your face and neck and leave it on to dry.
Moisturizing keeps your skin smooth and soft and it reduces fine lines as it builds a film on your face. Use a moisturizer with sun screen to prevent sun damage when you are going outdoors during day time. In evening you can use a normal moisturizer to give your skin a smooth finish. People with oily skin should use water based moisturizer to avoid a shiny and greasy look.
Apply a thin coat of moisturizer all over your face and neck. If you find it excessive greasy then dab your face with a tissue to absorb excess oil.
Facial mask should be used at least once a week to rejuvenate, nourish and repair the skin. Facial mask helps to tighten skin pores and it removes impurities from the facial skin.
Apply the mask after cleansing your face. Use a brush to apply the mask evenly on your face and neck. Avoid spreading the mask on your eyes as it may cause damage. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes and then gently wash it off with normal water.
Clay masks, fruit masks and herbal masks work better for men’s skin as they help to give you a face lift.
Use a facial scrub on weekly basis to remove dead skin cells and to improve your complexion. Exfoliating helps to remove accumulated dirt and grime by deep cleansing the skin. It reduces oil build up and gives your skin a smooth and soft texture.
